Our missions

To cure

The Missions Etrangères de Paris (MEP), based in France, designates a trained nurse for a duration of one year or six months to the home. Her mission here is to assist the local staff to take care of the residents. Her primary duties are to sent the residents to their appointment to the hospital, to make sure the residents follow strictly on their medications, and also manage their medications records and appointments. Other that she takes care of the children who need special attention, and other residents more affected than others (hemiplegia, schizophrenia...)

The volunteers' mission is not just on the medical aspects of the residents. They are persons who expect love and affection. They are a venerable lot, seriously ill, living in isolation and who have been rejected by their families, friends and society. So as to keep their minds free from their miseries, they are taught to cook, take care of children and play games in group or gardening. The French community plays a important role to cheer up the residents. Weekly they conduct handicraft classes for them. The finished products are sold to generate extra income for the home.

To love

To help

The final mission is to help them rebuilt their life and to reinsert them into society. Before this can be done, the residents have to understand the seriousiness of their illness, the importance of their medicines and to administer them properly and to take their medicines regularly. Also to go for their appointments at the stipulated time and date, without fail. When they can take care of themself, then finally to find a job to stand on their own feet.

When we feel that the residents have acquired the necessary experience and knowledge, then by mutual consent, we allow them to become "out-patients", but we still follow up on their medical appointment and visit their residence or work place to access their conditions. When we are satisfied that they have achived a satisfactry level, then, they go on independently. Then, we consider our missions accomplished.

But if they are not, then there is always option for them to return to the home at their own free wish.

Our projects

The house refurbishment

The home is long overdue for renovation and expension. Now it is lacking some basics facilities where are the residents find it difficult, due to the annual hot weather in Malaysia (quite warm and humid). Immadiate recquirements are the bathrooms whiches need renovations, a study room for the children and a treatment room for the residents (at presents we double-up the office and the treatments room as one). Build a proper garden, a special room for the palliatives cares ...  All this renovations for the home where the projected cost is approximately Renggit Malaysia : 140 000 MR or $ 32 443.

The car

At present we have a van for all our needs donated by a caring organisation. Due to wear and tear and aging the cost to upkeep the van increasing. A sizeable portion of our income goes forwards it. Furthermore the capacity of the van is only 7 passengers.  Whenever we take our residents for a outing we find it difficult to accomodate all our residents in the van. So we would appreciate a bigger capacity van to meet our needs. The projected cost for a new van capacity round 14 passengers is approximately Ringgit Malaysia : 80 000 MR or $ 18.538.

Find donations for everyday's life

Our main source of income is through donations. We do not receive any grant or busaries from any government agencies. So it is imperative that we keep close contact with our regular donors. We also need to find new donors to keep the donation coming for the home. So it is our foremost duty to see we have sufficient fund in our coffer so that our residents can enjoy a comfortable life.

The monthly expenses in Rumah (staff wages, food, gas, charges, medical appointments, treatments, emergencies...) amount to about 9000 MR, or $ 2085.
